Switch rows and columns for a different view of the data
- [Instructor] We're looking at the worksheet called Year Data in the Chapter Three modifying file. When you create a chart, Excel does take into account the structure of the data. The chart to the right here is based on the information over in Columns A, B, C, and D. But notice that each cluster of columns is about a month. Now, you wouldn't necessarily know or even think that possibly we could structure these differently. There are 36 different columns here. What if we had three clusters, each one for each region? Now you wouldn't even necessarily think of that. But we can get to that capability by way of selecting a chart, going to the design tab, and using a choice called switch row column. Now if you've never even thought about a different way to display the data and you see this description swap the data over the axis, data being charted on the X axis will move to the Y axis and vice versa.
