Use Data Validation to control data entry values
- [Instructor] On this worksheet called Validation. We're about to enter data in various columns. And a feature called data validation is a strong tool for keeping out bad data. And that's the source of lots of problems as you work with lists in Excel, inaccurate data. Let's focus on an easy one, column E. We simply want these salaries here to either be within a certain range or maybe above a certain amount, below a certain amount. We've got lots of options. Typically when you use data validation, you do this for a column. Now this list might start off small, but maybe it will grow and it doesn't hurt to select the entire column. And many times that's likely to be your first choice before using this feature. It's found on the data tab in the ribbon, data validation. And in this dialog box, the most important option is under settings, allow. What do we want to allow in column E? I always think that word above it should say…
