- [Instructor] Excel is a number of functions 2 that fall under the heading text. 3 If you go to the formulas tab in the ribbon, 4 you'll see text and lots of options here. 5 A few of the more common ones are LEFT 6 and RIGHT, where we can pull data out of the left-side 7 of a cell, right-side of a cell. 8 For example, in column A here we've got some item numbers. 9 Maybe these are set up on a positional basis. 10 Maybe it's the three leftmost characters that refer 11 to the actual location where the item was made. 12 Or maybe it has something to do with the size 13 or the color or the price, something like that. 14 Let's pull out data from the left-side of these. 15 Now, in some of the examples 16 that we're going to be seeing a faster 17 and perhaps better approach could be the use 18 of the Flash Fill feature, 19 but let's show how we can first use the LEFT function. 20 We're about to pull out data 21 from the…
