From the course: Excel: Filtering Data for Beginners

What you should know

- [Instructor] Before taking this course, I'm assuming you know the basics of Excel, such as the ability to insert rows and columns. With that in place, you'll be ready to take that next step into learning Excel filters. Also, I'm assuming you're using a desktop version of Excel, either on Windows or Mac. On my screen, I happen to be using Excel for Windows. And most of what I teach is possible on the Mac as well. However, there are some exceptions. For example, my filter menu looks like this on Windows, but on a Mac it looks like this. It's more like a pane than it is a menu. Regardless of this difference, you should be able to follow along just fine, but I'll point out any major differences along the way. Okay, let's get started learning about filters.
