The importance of student achievement data

- In this movie, educators will explore the overarching goal of using data in the classroom, and how data cycles are ultimately all about student achievement. Data's not only important for you, but is also the total driving factor in your classroom. As educators, our ultimate outcome is our students outcome. We can have the best managed class, we can hold the highest expectations for our kids, we can take them on multiple field trips throughout the year but at the end of the day, if we're not tracking our students, we will not know where they're at. Teachers who give a diagnostic before the end of the first quarter, they are two times more likely to reach their goals by the end of the year. Shocking, I know. I did not believe this when I first read it, but, being in so many classrooms over the past years, I have noticed that teachers who ultimately give a diagnostic act with such a sense of urgency moving throughout the year that they reach and many times go above their goals.
