- [Narrator] There are multiple ways we can move our email to Exchange Online and they include staged, cutover, hybrid, and IMAP. In a staged migration, all email and accounts are moved over in batches. And it transitions all your resource mailboxes and existing users from Exchange 2003 or 2007 to Exchange Online. It's a very good method for medium-size companies, those with over 2,000 mailboxes that are using the on-premise Exchange 2003 or 2007 version. It's not available for 2010 or 2013. And it uses a special tool called the Directory Synchronization tool, and that replicates your accounts from the on-promises Active Directory Database. Afterwards, all mailboxes will be hosted in Exchange Online. Now during the migration, users will still have the ability to use their email, but only for those users who have not been migrated yet.
