Using flangers to create intriguing pad sounds

- The best way of describing the sound of flangers is to describe them as a more aggressive chorus effect. However, the way they work is very different. Flangers work by producing two copies of the same sound, one delayed from the other by a very small amount that changes over time. This creates an effect similar to when a plane flies overhead. Using FL Studio, it is very easy to recreate the flanger effect. Here, we've got our exercise files open with our unevolving flat pad sound. Let's now install the flanger into our project and see what it sounds like when we install it. First of all, let's listen to the original source sound. (accordion chords playing) As you can see, it's quite simple and flat, and follows a very popular chord progression. Let open up the browser and launch the Fruity Flanger. Go to the Plugin Database, then Installed, Effects, VST, and then let's go up to the mixer where the pad sound is already linked to the insert one, and drag over the Fruity Flanger. This…
