Connecting Instagram with Facebook

- Chances are, you've heard of Instagram. It's a popular site for photo sharing, as well as video sharing at this point. Now personally, I don't post a lot of content to Instagram, but I do occasionally. However, it is extremely popular with many folks that are photographers. as well as folks in certain age demographics. One thing, though, that is important to realize is that both Facebook and Instagram are currently owned by Facebook. So if you want to advertise, you can push out to both networks. and depending upon the type of content you create, you might also find that Instagram is better at connecting with a younger audience. But let me show you how the two services can work together. Now there's a few things that we can do here to really properly connect. And this is easiest to do if you access Instagram on a mobile device. On the mobile app, simply log in. Then what you could do is tap on your profile and then tap the menu and access settings. If you scroll down, you'll see the Facebook Accounts Center near the bottom. What you'll want to do here is tap to access. This'll show you where you've connected. If you tap, you could see which things are connected. In this case, I've already connected Facebook. If I wanted to do this all over, I'll show you really quickly. Let's go ahead and remove that connection and I'll reset it up. I'll tap Add Accounts, and you see that it prompts me to make the connection. This is because I have both the Facebook mobile app and the Instagram mobile app on my same device. So it's going to automatically connect and see the two. You simply then need to authorize. If you needed to, you could change the connection here by tapping Change, and it will log you into Facebook, allowing you to switch to a different account. But in this case, that is the correct account, so I'll click continue. Now it asks you to review a few policies. Make sure you take a look at this and see if you have any concerns. I've already read it, so I'll tap Finish Setting Up. It runs through and now the two accounts are connected. You'll see if we go back, we see some additional controls here for connected experiences. For example, we could set this up that we have the ability when we post to Instagram to reshare it out to Facebook. We can also automatically share things like Instagram stories and Instagram posts to the Facebook timeline. You'll also see a few other options to control how you log in and if you're using Facebook Payment services. Once you've established these connections, you can also access them later on in the advertising settings on the business accounts. As we explore some of the options to promote your business online, you'll see later how we could push out an ad to both our Facebook audience and to prospective audiences on Instagram to further connect with new people. All right, once you've got that relationship established, if Instagram is important to you, let's go on to some specific skills.
