- Now that you understand that most people can get online, what are some of the things that they're doing socially? Social media awareness is very high. Tools like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter are known by virtually everyone. And even some of the networks that are more specialized like Pinterest and LinkedIn are well-known. These companies have done a great job advertising and building loyal fans. But if we look at usage, the numbers tell a different story. The most shocking is how much of a dip there is between Twitter awareness and Twitter usage and that all of the companies see a major dip. Again, look at that change between awareness and usage. Being well-known doesn't necessarily mean that people choose to spend time there or spend money. Now, if we start to look at people here over the last six years, we'll see how things have changed.
