- [Instructor] The largest group of calculation functions in FileMaker Unlike some groups of functions, in which only a few are used on a regular basis, I'd say that about nearly half of the text function group are of primary application and importance. Text functions also break into two different categories. Analytic text functions, and text manipulation text functions, which extract or manipulate text from the reference string. If we go inside File, Manage, Database you'll see at the very bottom of our list in the Customer table, I have a field called Text Calc, which is set to calculation and we can add a formula here. On the right hand side I'm going to isolate of the text functions available to us. But focusing on the analytic ones, the ones that are going to return numeric data on about reference text, I'm going to show you really a few different examples.
