Converting spreadsheets into FileMaker databases
Certainly the easiest way to create a fully functional database right out of the box is by using a starter solution which we covered in our previous movie. And in the case of starter solutions they won't contain data when you first create them. If you want to create a FileMaker database that already does contain data, you can actually convert different file types into FileMaker databases and then do your modifications and create your database from there. So for example, in our exercise files, you'll notice that we've got two different spreadsheets. What I'm going to show you how to do is how to convert those spreadsheets into a FileMaker database. But first, if you look into FileMaker, and you go under the Open menu. Wanted to point out this little drop down menu that you've got right here.
