Creating self relationships
- [Instructor] We've been looking at various different ways to visualize and work with data from other related tables in a properly-architected relational file-maker database. But in this movie, we're going to do something kind of interesting. We're actually going to relate and then view data from the same table. So we're going to have a relationship that only has one single context. This technique is referred to as creating a self-relationship, or a self-join relationship, also known as the loneliest of all relationships. But let me give you sort of a story that will help this make sense. Let's say for example, we've got customers and a customer can be referred by another customer. So what we want to be able to do is track any customer's referrals. Makes sense, probably happens in quite a few organizations.
