Deleting records and backing up files

A FileMaker database's main purpose is to be able to store data, and you can add data, duplicate data, edit existing data and just like you can do those functions, deleting records out of your FileMaker database is also pretty easy to do. Actually, it may be a little bit too easy. I am going to show you how to delete data out of your FileMaker database and then talk to about some ways that you might want to protect your database against accidental deletions. First, just like creating and duplicating records, you can delete a record by either going under the Records menu and selecting Delete Record or using the corresponding quick key which is either Command+E or Ctrl+E. You can also use the Delete Record button that you see on screen. The only thing that's different about deleting a record as opposed to adding a new record, you'll see when I hit Delete Record, I at least get a message that pops up that says would you like to permanently delete this entire record, thus reminding me…
