Editing and locking records

Once you've added records to your FileMaker database, or if you already have records in the database, you have the ability to edit the data that's stored inside the fields. You can control whether or not users, or even certain users, can edit values inside your database, through this Manage > Security section. If you're interested in more information on that, please see the FileMaker help. But for the purposes of this discussion, we're going to look at how users can, or cannot, edit fields inside the database. One way that you can control whether or not users can edit a field on a certain layout, is if you're in layout mode, and you select a field, you'll see this thing called the Inspector appear over here. And you'll notice that there's a section called Data. In the section under the Data tab called Behavior. By default, users can enter a field, which allows them to edit as well.
