Importing data

So far in this title, we've been working with creating one record at a time manually. The true value of the database is to store and manage a lot of data. And the best way to get large amounts of data into your database at one time is to do something that's called an import. Now, we've already discussed creating a database from a spreadsheet earlier on in the title, and even importing a spreadsheet into your database as a new table. But in this movie, we're going to discuss importing data from another file into your database. This will allow us to work with large sets of data in some of the upcoming movies. First, let's take a look at the products table. You can navigate over the products table in our exercise file. And you'll notice that we have no records in the database. You can tell that in the upper left hand corner. You can see that we've got the number zero there next to where it says records.
