Sorting with multiple criteria

- Often when you're working in FileMaker and you have a large set of records, you may want to just look at them in a certain order. And this, of course, is where sorting comes into play. But sometimes when you're sorting you may have multiple different criteria that you need to sort with. For example we've got 1523 records in this customer table and if I go in and sort them by, let's say the state in ascending order however, I've got so many in each state that maybe I want to order them within each state group. So how do we do that? Well it's actually kind of easy. You go into Sort Records and you can see it's restored your previous sort order, and I'm going to leave the AddressState in there but what I'm going to do next is I'm going to double click on AddressCity. So what it's going to do here is sort first by state in ascending order, and then within that group of states it's going to sort them or reorder them by the city in ascending order as well.
