Sorting using buttons

- [Narrator] FileMaker has so many different ways that you can sort lists of records. Course you can do it by ascending order, descending order, based on custom value lists, multiple different criteria. All that is great if you know how to do it and you know how to work with the sort dialogue. But some of your users might need a more intuitive option. So for example, you might want to put some buttons on-screen, like I have here. Or just allow them to click on a column header for example. So let me show you how easy it is to allow your users to sort by a button, which means that all you have to do is tell them to click on something in order to sort, rather than have to train them up on how the sort dialogue works. So here I have two buttons, we'll talk more about these in the scripting chapter. But for the sake of this discussion, they're individual layout objects, that I can assign an action too.
