Understanding the If script step
- [Instructor] Creating scripts in FileMaker is an essential part of developing FileMaker apps that are easy for your users to work with, and making scripts as intelligent as possible will take much of the guesswork out of using your database as well. A great way to add intelligence to your script is by adding conditions to the script. Similar to how you can add conditions to calculations, we have the ability to add an if inside scripts. So now before you can actually use this script step, it's important to understand how it works. This allows you to ask a question during a script and perform different actions based on the conditions that are met. So let's take a look at an example of how we might use this condition in our example file. So in our example, I have a couple of different letters.
