Using get functions

Get functions are a rare breed of function. Because they really pull environmental information about either the session that you are in when you log into the database. The application version that you're using, whether it be Go or FileMaker Pro. Or information about your operating system. These can be really useful if you need to extract this type of information within your calculations or scripts even. So let's take a look at our Manage Database window. And i've got a calculation called GetCalc where we can experiment with a couple of these. I'll hit Options. And let's isolate the Get functions and you'll see that they're all really easy. None of them have parameters. They just stand on their own. So we can do things like Get Application Version for example. That tells me the version of FileMaker that was used to create a record.
