- [Male Instructor] When you're creating related records in FileMaker, or really any other database platform for that matter, in order to create a child record that's related to a parent record, you have to have a valid PK value inside that child record's FK field. So, we looked at that example here, where we've got the customer foreign key value and we used a value list which looks like it's picking the name of the customer, but in fact, what it's really doing, is picking the PK value. So in that case, we're populating a valid PK value into an FK field. So, that's just one of the three techniques that you can use to build in a way that your users can pick a parent record for your child records. Now, in this example, I'm going to show you something a tad bit more sophisticated, because what I'm going to show you how to do is use the properties in your relationship to allow you to create a child record.
