What is a database?
- Before working with a database it's important to understand what a database actually is. The definition of a database is that it is a collection of like information with underlying attributes. Now, you might already be familiar with databases and you might not even know it. You probably have seen databases in the form of things like contacts in your computer, where one record equals one individual whose information you're storing. And in that case the "like" information that you're storing would be different individuals. You can also store underlying attributes about these individuals. Short things like phone numbers, email, instant message, address, and that type of thing.
