- Hi there, I'm Robbie Carman. - And I'm Rich Harrington. - And welcome back to another episode in which this week we are here at the Mt. Vernon Recreation Center in Alexandria, Virginia. We're in front of an ice rink and we just wrapped up a few hours of shooting some pretty amazing figure skaters that do some pretty amazing things. And this week we want to talk about an aesthetic choice for getting shots. And that is the high angle shot. What is high angle shot all about? - Well, ideally, you're trying to get above your subject. And this can be very beneficial because sometimes, if everything's at eye level, it starts to look a little bit stale. - Right. - Something you've seen before. So getting higher gives you a sense of perspective, particularly for a location. It really helps you get the lay of the land. Although it can make the subject look a little smaller. - Yeah, I like that, you know, the use of the word perspective. When I think about high angle, I think about expanse. I…
