- Alright Rich, so we've talked about what LTO is and how it's a long-term archival solution. We've talked about the generations and the connectivity. Let's actually put it into action. So what I've done here is I've hooked up my LTO seven drive to my HP computer. I've done this via Thunderbolt, cause this is a Thunderbolt drive, right. - Yep. - Now the one thing that's really important to understand before we actually put a tape into the drive itself is that you have a small decision to make when it comes to archiving things to LTO. Decision number one, or choice number one. - Right. - Go with a proprietary archival solution. - Sure. - Right. There are a lot of solutions on the market that use, kind of, their own database technology, their own way of communicating to the drive. And the beauty about those is that, for the most part, they're pretty robust. - Yeah. - And they work really well. - Make it easy to search, have a database maybe with thumbnails, previews, so you can go…
