- Everyone has a different creative process when it comes to writing. Some people want to just get started by pouring random thoughts on a page and revising as they go. That's fine. Others want a well thought out plan before they begin. That also works. Regardless of your process, the first thing you need is an idea. What interests you? Look to your own life for inspiration. Have you met any characters lately or heard any wild stories or daydreamed about any possible conflict? Every single idea has the potential to become a great film. The question is where to start. Well, you can start with a conflict or you can start with a character. But the most important thing is that you need to choose something that motivates you. This is gonna be a long process, so you better be engaged all the way.
