How Do I Transcode?

- Rob, there is a wealth of tools for transcoding, and we can't teach them all today, but I think we should just show some examples where transcoding happens. - Yeah, for example, a lot of people shoot on a GoPro, right? A GoPro's gonna record relatively good quality H.264 files, but H264 of course is heavily compressed. And depending on your edit system might not be the best thing. However, GoPro gives us a couple tools for setting a transcode up. - [Rich] I could just go ahead and click the plus button to import from a folder, or a memory card, grab that footage and, of course, just double click to load it up. You can then drag through that footage, and mark out an in or an out point, which, I've just got to go on record and say, a lot of times, GoPro shots have a lot of slop on either side of the good parts. - [Rob] Sure. - [Rich] We can mark that, and then give it a new name, tell it where it's going to save, pretty straight forward.
