How many frames do you need for slow motion?
- Hi my name's Rich Harrington. - And I'm Robbie Carman. - And this week we're talking about one of my favorite topics slow motion video. - He practices that in front of the mirror I'm sure. - Yep (laughs) Slow motion is a lot of fun and it's really become a tool that tons of folks can use because we've got 240 frames per second on our smartphones. GoPros have been doin this for years. People will shoot things like action sports at higher frame rate and then play it back. And there's a lot of reasons. Some of them aren't technical. For example, there's a great app for the iPhone, called Coach's Eye that you can shoot people practicing baseball, or a sport, like here we are at a baseball facility. And then play it back and study the footage, and look at the technique. - [Robbie] Yep! - [Rich] You see this in tv commercials all the time. - [Robbie] Yeah, it's also done for aesthetic reasons, you want a particular moment of intensity, or kind of dramatic effect.
