- There are as many ways to create a main character, or any character, as there are writers. But let's try one of my favorites. Building your character in two basic sections, mind and heart. First, the brain, the seed of thought and logic. How does your main character make decisions? Does she collect as much data as possible? Analyze it closely, weigh different courses of action, then select the one that seems the most prudent? Or does she close her eyes and throw a dart at a bulletin board? Is her decision making process somewhere in between? If your product or service is relatively complicated, you may want a main character like Sherlock Holmes, who can make the complicated seem elementary. If the message of your video is largely emotional, you may wanna create a main character who tends to make decisions intuitively, which is to say, through an unconscious process rather than a conscious one.
