Media management concepts

- Now, we've finished our shoot, and we thought we'd take a little time to talk about media management. Just like the creative aspects, when it comes to media management, we make some decisions in pre-production, and we want to make sure they follow all the way through to post. For instance, we want to make sure that the color decision lists that are generated on the set find their way all the way through the editing process and all the way through to color grading. The record keeping of the first camera system is really important. For instance, we want to make sure we don't roll out. When we're done with a shot, we want to make sure we're happy with that shot, and that we don't shoot the same thing over and over again. We want to make sure that the shot actually closes. Now, this is analogous to what we used to do in film, checking the gate to make sure there isn't a hair in the gate. Well, we want to make sure that the shot actually closes in digital. The thing about that is that there are utilities that can fix that, but they can be incredibly time consuming, and that'll just destroy our shoot.
