Motivating viewers

- Let's talk about motivating viewers, and how that process really works. One of the things that happens when we share stories is a process called narrative transportation, and it's just a fancy word for connecting with the audience. Specifically, the things we found that connect with audiences are first of all they have empathy with the characters in some way; so you have to create some kind of connection with the characters in your show. The other thing is that somehow that audience needs to be connected to the content. Maybe they've already got some connection to it, or you're bringing them a new connection to that content. The other thing that's really important is that they identify with what's going on with the character. There has to be some process that's happening inside of your script, inside of your storyline, to make that connection happen.
