Reasons to record live video on set
- Hi, my name's Rich Harrington. - And I'm Robert Carman. - And, Rob, a lot of times folks are wanting to capture live video. Now of course, with a higher-end system, a desktop, you could put in an expensive capture card or a moderately-priced capture card and have a wealth of options. But laptops don't really have expansion slots. We can't put a big card slot in here, can we? - Yeah, that's true. Even with a laptop, there's different levels of sophistication. You might just have the laptop itself. But on the high end, you might even have a DIT, or a digital imaging technician, on set. And it's his or her job to route video, to capture video, and to even apply looks. So they might have a setup that has a lot of different hard drives and capture devices and routers and that kind of stuff. But these days, it's actually really simple to capture video to a laptop.
