Shooting With a Slower Shutter Speed

- I think a lot of folks get confused about shutter speed, when to go slower, and a slow shutter can be really useful for lots of different benefits, both technical and aesthetic. Now let's just make sure everyone's got this one down. The slower shutter speeds use a smaller number. - Yeah, so when you're looking at things in fractional values or time values, yeah, one 25th is gonna be slower than, say, one 50th, and if you look at things in degrees, it's kind of the inverse. So as you go to a smaller degree number, say 144 degrees versus 180 degrees, 144 is actually faster than 180. - You can think of it like it takes less time to get there as you're going around the circle. These shutter speeds can be really useful aesthetically. For example, if I'm trying to get something to feel very fluid, maybe I'm shooting dance or athletes in motion or some sort of benefit where I really want things to just look more fluid with more motion blur, I'm gonna use that, I use this all the time for…
