Standards and beyond
- So Rob, we were just talking about the fact that there are some standards when it comes to UHD and 4K. Where's it all going? - That's a great question. A lot of them, actually, many of them are still in flux. But here's the thing, Rich. Alongside the pure resolution improvement over HD, there has simultaneously been other areas that have been improving about the picture. - You're right, Rob. Right now, I like to think of these as pixel improvements, things that really improve the overall quality of the image itself. I'm really excited about HDR, for example, which is putting more information into the color, which I think makes for a more life-like picture. And this is cool, but a lot of these are all getting lumped into the UHD or 4K container, because if you're going to make a change and have to buy new cameras and new displays and everything else, everyone's raising their hand saying, "Hey, let's go ahead and improve things all at once." - [Rob] Exactly, Rich.
