- Product shots are all about the product, so they're very detail oriented. The lighting, the dressing, the composition, and orientation of the product all play a big role in the final picture. In still photography, there are a lot of benefits to using cameras with higher dynamic range, larger sensors, and the ability to composite in post. But with video, it's a little less forgiving. With video, what you see in camera for the most part is what you get. These days new video camera models are becoming more and more like still cameras in their ability to shoot raw footage with expanded dynamic range and larger resolutions. However, no matter how good your camera is, it'll never replace the need for fundamental lighting techniques. By practicing good lighting techniques, your products will look better no matter what medium you're using. Lighting is just that important.
