Using a LUT box
- Rob, sometimes you're on set and it's really demanding, you've got clients, you've got crew, they all have different needs, and I imagine there're scenarios where you need to appease many masters, so throwing hardware at the problem might help, right? - Yeah, I mean on the modern production set these days, you're going to have people with different monitoring needs, you might have the DP and the camera operator wanting one feed, a client wanting another feed, you know, whoever else needing something else, and the management of these monitoring setups has largely become the responsibility of a DIT, or Digital Imaging Technician. And a DIT on set does basic color correction, monitor management, as well as data wrangling and passing off, for hopefully what is a successful hand-off at post-production, and in the past, this management especially of monitoring became kind of difficult because you had a whole bunch of different boxes in play, LUT boxes and all that kind of stuff, and the…
