What is Periscope?
- Hey there, I'm Robbie Carman. - And I'm Rich Harrington. - And Rich, this week, we're gonna explore an app that is sort of redefining the way that people are communicating on social media, namely Twitter. - Yeah, and what's happening here is that we have ability to do live video streaming. Now, you don't need to be a Twitter use to participate with this but there is some great tie-ins between Periscope and Twitter because Periscope was this cool app that was around for a while, and it was competing with another app called Meerkat and a couple others. And twitter looked at it and said, that's awesome. - And like any big company these days, what did they do? We want that, we buy you! So, now Periscope is under the Twitter umbrella. - Now, what's gonna happen is by using the Periscope app, you have the ability to invoke a live webcast from your mobile device. This means that you can use a tablet or a smartphone, and you can actually start to do live webcasting right from your mobile…
