- Let's talk about defining story goals. That's always the big challenge, right? Somebody comes to you and they need a story right away, they need this video right away, they need the script yesterday, and yet the most important thing to do is to stop and figure out the goals. And the first piece of that is defining the audience and how they're going to connect with the story and why, why is it going to matter to them. So the first thing you're going to want to do is think about who is that target audience, and please don't tell me, everybody. That's always the kiss of death for a project, right? We want this to work for everyone from age three to 103, probably not going to be very successful project. So try to get a little drill down into the audience demographics. So you want to think about the age of your audience members, you want to think of their ethnicity, their primary language, their education level.
