Why Might I Skip Transcoding?

- There are many benefits to transcoding, but as computers have gotten faster and faster, this is less of an issue. Here in Red Pixel, we've got a lotta workstation machines, modern computers, very powerful, from folks like HP and Apple, that are just designed to handle uncompressed video, or native formats, even, that are quite beefy. So it just depends on what we're doing. And sometimes, I don't like transcoding. One of the things that I don't like is that it can add huge delays. Transcoding is sometimes not real time. Sometimes it's much slower. And so, if I get back from a big shoot, I may want to jump in right away and start editing. I don't wanna have to wait three or four hours before my one hour of footage is ready to work with. - Yeah, now, that's a good point. I mean, for me, probably the largest single reason that I wouldn't transcode is 'cause I want to work with the native media. A lot of times, for me, I want access to the original file format, for example, a RAW file. I…
