Why manual focus?

- Now Rich, if your camera has auto-focusing abilities, you might be thinking to yourself, "Uh, self, why wouldn't I use auto-focusing all the time?" - [Rich] Yeah, auto-focusing can be a great tool, and it works well in many situations, but there cases where auto-focus can cause more problems than benefits. For example, with auto-focus, a lot of times the systems can be really sensitive, so something could walk through your scene or move, or your subject can move a little bit, and all of a sudden the camera tries to adjust, or racks between foreground and background focus. And this can be problematic, because you'll see creep in the focus, particularly with the moving subject, with the changing background. And, as it's trying to constantly follow a moving subject, someone who reaches up their hand to start talking, it might auto-focus on that, and then suddenly refocus on the face.
