- [Instructor] ServiceNow, like many systems, performs its magic through the highly-connected use of data in a relational database. The database of ServiceNow is built off of four key components. These are tables, fields, records and labels. Using these components, data can be reassembled in different ways without having duplication and requiring reorganization of how the data is stored. A table is simply a collection of records in the database. For example, the user table which contains information about a ServiceNow user. Fields are the individual pieces of data in the record and correspond to columns in a spreadsheet. Fields capture details such as a user's email address, phone number, city, and name. A record corresponds to a row in a spreadsheet and is a complete collection of related fields that make up, in our example, a user.
