- [Instructor] Scripting allows for the customization of your instance by adding additional functionality and integrations. In this video, we explore the various script types available in ServiceNow and how they function. Scripts can be used to automate processes, add functionality, as well as for allow integrations with other apps. They do this primarily through what's called an API or application programming interface. You can think of this as a black box with well-defined inputs and outputs. Your calculator, for example, has an input for numbers, an arithmetic operation and then outputs an answer. You don't know how it works but you're glad it did. That's kind of like an API. Scripts are either run on the server or they're run in the client web browser. And that can really affect end performance.
