- [Instructor] In this video, we're going to talk about the benefits of composites. Now, the main benefit in composites has typically always been light and strong. It's that light weighting factor that really drives people to composites. So it's typically the main reason. Now, there's a lot of other benefits to composites that I think are usually overlooked. Composite is really good at dampening vibration. Because it's made from fabric and fibers that are traveling throughout the part, the vibration has to travel through those fabrics and that helps dissipate the vibration throughout the part, which makes it really beneficial. It's also thermally stable and now, this is something that's really overlooked a lot and also, carbon fiber actually have a negative thermal expansion rate, which is really interesting.
