Creating a setup

- When your design is finished and it's been validated, it's time to prepare to manufacture it. The 2D and 3D cam tools inside of Fusion 360 will help you prepare your design to come into the real world. Switching to the manufacturer workspace we'll begin this process by creating a setup. A setup is used to tell the machine how the material will be oriented as it is put into the machine so that tool paths can be programmed to start removing the material. To begin a setup, you need to define what the stock material will be and what its orientation will be. When you start the setup tool it will give you a proposed stock and coordinate system. You can change the coordinate system by using values in the dialog box or by leveraging the touchpoints on the UCS itself. For example, selecting the center point will allow you to relocate the stock point. You can click the ends of the arrows to change their direction, and if you click the shaft of the arrow you can reorient the axis itself. For…
