Introduction to the user interface

- [Narrator] Now that we've installed Fusion 360, let's take a minute to familiarize ourselves with the work environment. We'll begin on the upper left hand side with this grid icon. If I hover over it, it actually tells me what it is. In this case it wants me to know that this is our data panel. If I left click, it's going to open up this side panel. This is where all our designs are kept and organized. You see that this is projects, so therefore I have a bunch of my projects under that. If I click on any one of these projects, you'll see that I have all my designs associated with that project. If I want to continue working on any of these designs I can simply double click on the design and it will open up, or I can drag that design into my current design by right clicking and choosing insert into current design. I can also just grab it and drag it over. Now if I want to go back a level I can just click on this back arrow. If I want to close the data panel I just click on this X. Next we have our file menu, our save icon, our undo and redo button. Below that we have our toolbar, which we'll jump into great detail a little later. But for now just note that these have a specific organization to them. For example, we have a sketch menu, a create menu, a modify menu, and so forth. Below that we have our browser. Now there's not much going on in our browser right now, but for now just note that we have these little triangles that you can expand and collapse. You also have this little light bulb that you can turn and turn off items. When we start creating bodies and sketches we'll see that you can also turn those off and on the same way. We'll turn our origin on and we'll leave it on for now. In the bottom we have our timeline. Now there's not much going on here either, but when we begin designing we'll see that it will be populated with different features. This will become a very important part of our designs. In the upper right hand corner we have our view cube. If I left click and turn this around you can see it begins to orbit. I can go to specific views by clicking on the sides of the cube. I can also click on the home icon to go back to a home orientation. Above that we have our name. If we click on that little arrow we can access our Autodesk account, our preferences, and our profile, or we can sign out. In the bottom center we have some navigation and zooming options, which we won't really be using. We also have some further options and settings here that we can change. Okay, that's all I'm going to cover for now. This is the only time I'm actually going to do something like this where I go and just describe stuff. The rest of this course is just going to be doing. Let's go ahead and now and change a few settings.
