Overview of generative design
- [Instructor] Autodesk Fusion 360 includes access to a set of tools called Generative Design, where a simulation can help you analyze the designs that you've come up with. Generative Design can take the engineering requirements and make suggestions on what the geometry of the model should be. On the screen is an example. On the left is the original concept that I'd come up with for a lifting support. On the right is the solution that Generative Design offered, that can be fabricated using die casting. The model on the left is over 70 ounces, the model on the right is under four. The model on the right also has a higher safety factor than the one on the left. Switching to the Generative Design workspace, we can see a little bit more about what the process is. Rather than creating a model and asking for validation, we create the conditions using preserves, in green.
