Setting preferences

- [Instructor] Different people in different areas work with local standards or their own version of them. Fusion 360 uses preferences to set the default working conditions that you use. The units used in a design file in Fusion 360, as well as the appearance properties travel with you so that anywhere you use Fusion 360, it looks and acts the way you want it to. I'll be making changes to the appearance and settings for this course, and so that you're aware how I made these changes so that you can choose whether or not to use the same options, let's walk through them. First, for appearance and for clarity, I'll change the working environment. I'll change the display settings, environment setting, and I'll set the environment to photo booth. Then for additional clarity, I'll go to the grid and snap settings, and turn off the layout grid. Next, for preferences, I'll go under the account name, to the preferences tool, and because I like to work with Z up, I can make the change for the default modeling orientation, and I can make sure that my pan and zoom settings are set to the tool that I'm most comfortable with, and I'm going to be changing default orbit type to free orbit. While I'm in the preferences dialogue, it's important to check in on the preview features from time to time. Fusion 360 is constantly being updated, and you can choose to participate in certain preview technologies. After selecting one, you select sign me up, and then you can choose other tools as well. Like I said, check in from time to time and see if there aren't preview tools coming that would be particularly useful for you. When you're done, simply click okay, and you've made the updates to Fusion 360. Now, as I mentioned, anywhere you go, and log in to Fusion 360, the appearance values as well as the other properties that you've changed will follow you.
