Blur images

- [Instructor] While you may not need to blur images as often as you'll need to sharpen them, from time to time, you may want to blur selections or entire images to create special effects, emphasize certain elements, or protect information. So let's see how blurring works in GIMP. First, I'll make sure I'm targeting the bottom layer in the exercise file. And if you just want to blur or soften a very small and specific part of an image, you may be able to use the Blur/Sharpen tool to get the results you want. So I'll take the Blur/Sharpen tool and make sure I'm set to Convolve Type, Blur, which is way down at the bottom, and pick a brush. I'll choose my Hardness 075 brush and make it big, 'about 200 pixels, and click and drag on my image to blur the clouds, the island, and the water in the distance. And the more I drag without releasing my mouse button, the more blur is applied. If I undo, you can compare the difference between the original detail and the blur. And I'll redo to bring…
