- [Instructor] While Gimp allows you to do basic formatting of text by applying fonts and fill colors, there are some things that you can't do to change the appearance of live text. For example, you can't fill text with a pattern or a gradient, or apply a stroke around live text, but there are some fairly simple ways of getting around these limitations. So, let's see how to fill text with a gradient, and apply a stroke. In our exercise file, we have a text layer with some live text in it, and a blank layer underneath, and say we wanted to add a stroke around the text, and fill it with a gradient. First, I'll zoom in on the text, and I'll set up the foreground and background colors, that'll be the ends of my gradient. So, I'll click on the foreground color, and set the values to 255, 245, 180. To give me this light yellow color. Then I'll click on the background color, and I'll make that 75, 150, 225, for a blue color. Now, to fill the text with this, I'll select the text layer, and…
