Create embossed text
- [Instructor] Here's how to create embossed text in GIMP. The text can be either live or converted to paths. The document should have a background layer and a transparent layer at the top for the bevel effect. Start by selecting the text layer, right-click on it and choose alpha to selection. Choose select, feather, and use a value like 15 pixels. Select the transparent layer, take the bucket tool, set the foreground color to white, and choose edit, fill with foreground color. Deselect, turn off the text layer, and target the top layer. Add the emboss effect by choosing filters, distorts, emboss. Set the position of shadows and highlights with the Azimuth controls. Adjust the intensity of shadows and highlights with the elevation controls. And change the width of the bevels with the depth controls.
