- [Instructor] Here's how to add interest to a photo with a vignette effect in GIMP. First to work non-destructively, create a new transparent layer for the vignette. Choose Filters, Light and Shadow, Vignette. Use the controls in the dialog to customize the effect. You can use Radius to set the size. Squeeze to make it more vertical or horizontal. Click the pointer and then click or drag in the image to the move the center of the vignette. And you can change the angle with Rotation.
