The Selection Editor

- So far in this chapter we looked at all the selection tools in GIMP as well as how to work with Quick Masks and how to save selections. So that leaves us with one more interesting feature to cover, and that's the selection editor. The selection editor is a dialogue that gives you quick access to some selection-related commands, but more importantly it offers you a clear view of your selection as a channel which can be helpful to keep open alongside your image as you work. So lets check it out. To open the selection editor, choose select -> selection editor. The main portion of the dialogue shows your current selection as a gray scale channel. Selected areas appear as white, partially selected areas appear as gray and unselected areas appear as black. So if you have nothing selected this whole display is black.
